Yareth Goes Blog

Yup, void-star.net has a new layout. It’s kind of a quickly thrown-together affair, but after spending most of the day drawing and colouring the picture of Yareth (1x Night Elf Druid, Dragonblight) I couldn’t so much be arsed coding properley. The layout also looks spectacularly shit in IE, because it uses position: fixed; elements on two

s (the picture of Yareth and the ‘separator’) and IE doesn’t support fixed positioning… for some reason. Who kows why IE does what it does. Wait ’til Vista (and IE 7.0), as usual. On the other hand, it looks good in OSX Ff, which the last layout really didn’t.

I’m also pleased to announce that I made this whole layout using no tables. That’s right, kids, it’s all

s and CSS. I was almost going to use relative text sizes, too, except Lucida Sans Unicode doesn’t really like them, and man I love Lucida Sans (best thing starfyre ever inadvertantly taught me). Since this has been a good day for reluctant admissions, I suppose I can finally admit that I kind of like working with
s, now that I’ve actually done it and now that I ‘get’ why the standards are moving towards them.

I still need to write the change site template changer. I t’s not like it’s very hard to do, I’ve just been putting it off. Like a lot of things, really.

I was in the bookstore today, looking for books on XHTML and OSX and was amazed to find not one but two books on “hacking Moveable Type”. Amusingly, one of them promised to show you how to “stop comment and trackback spam”, but had no entry for spam in its index. Surely this is a crazy blogsphere we live in.

This post bought to you by wireless internet and the downstairs lounge. Oh yeah; that Vexxis, he’s so hot right now. (Though typing on my lap is mega RSI territory, but… ohmigawdsocool!)

Logging in is for pros, k. Especially since I’ve been too lazy to write the register new user page, so only the hardcore oldskool awesome people have account here. :P

Please feel free to post registered-user-only comments (Visibility > Registered) and otherwise bask in sneakiness.

I just remember I used to try my username and a whole variety of passwords but it would never accept it. But now i’m here again! Yay!

Oh. I do love a good bask, and if it’s under the glow of sneakiness then all the better!

Heh, yeah if you ever forget your password let me know and I will reset it manually; the password reset form is, like, right down the very bottom of my very long list of things to do. :P
