One of my fish died yesterday. I came out in the morning to feed Laucian and noticed that there was a pale oto tail sticking up out of the rock I’ve got my Anubias barteri var. nana attached to. I couldn’t scoop him out; instead had to get the light off the top and literally pull the corpse out by the tail with a pair of tweezers. The head was stuck in a tiny little hole in the rock, pretty tightly too. It looked like he’d tried to swim through but been defeated by the gravel, then suffocated; gills held down by the rock and unable to move. Poor little tucker.
On the other hand, it gives me an excuse to go out to Redtree Aquariums in the next day or so to buy a replacement. I’ve been meaning to go out and grab some Glossostigma elatinoides, too, but I might hold off on that. In the last month or so I’ve gotten a really bad explosion of filamentous green algae. I’ve been removing it with water changes, but I’ve been a bit lazy and haven’t really gone through and really tried to remove it. Like with alum. And scrubbing. I need to do that; the explosion of algae is starting to deteriorate my wisteria, which is no good since that’s pretty much indestructible.
I’ve been so lazy lately; it’s a stress reaction and I know it is, but… yeah.
Incidentally, I’m getting married in a week and a half. Oh, and we’re offering on another house. That’s going to auction. On our wedding day. So it’s stress, but it’s happy stress. Happy happy stress.
I’ll tell y’all more about it after the fact, okay? Okay.
