AC/DC

Me ‘n’ randomredux. We were talking the other day about how after we become BIG FAMOUS WRITERS OMG we’re going to stage a coup at DC. I told Random he could take the Superman books, while I’d write for Batman; hence the title of the pic (oh, Dee, what a witty pun).

I should probably point out about now that this was drawn while I was sitting in the rec room at work pretending to read huge and ponderous manuals. So no references. It became apparently quite quickly that the S-Shield really hates me, and also that I’ve currently got no idea what Random actually looks like. Other than bald and quite possibly beardy. So I made it up. It’s highly likely this only bears any resemblance to Random whatsoever if it’s squinted at against the sun from a distance but, hell, I don’t exactly look like that either so… whatever!

Also: T-shirt + sheet = best superhero costume ever and you all know it.

[ image ]And, just for the lulz, have a picture of Lex Luthor eating some pie ‘cake’. This is from the pencils for a Ballhead Comics strip I sketched out the other day at B. & E.’s house after watching four hours of Whose Line is it Anyway? that kept getting interrupted by ads for Smallville. I really like drawing in this style; mostly I think because I don’t have to worry about faces or correct anatomy and can just focus on boiling down a character to the barest, identifying features. Of course, that fact didn’t stop me from re-drawing the hand for about five minutes, or lessen the irony of the fact that this sketch I did have a reference for thanks to a DVD sitting next to the TV (and yes, he’s got eyebrows; I checked).

Fun stuff.

I don’t think anyone except for the illustrators for the comic really have any idea how to draw the ‘S’ without a reference.

    Cool drawing, by the way.
