What Happened to the First One?

Apparently the other day I decided that I wasn’t part of enough fads and, hey, wouldn’t it be cool to finally check out this “second life” thing everyone keeps talking about on the news. Just for the purposes of mocking, of course. And to put together a Loki avatar, because that shit is bananas. Or something.

It was kinda an idle idea until I realised that SL apparently does have a Mac client (I was for some reason under the impression that they didn’t), which kinda cinched it for me. So I download a client and roll myself a login; Loki Seid. For those of you who haven’t touched the thing before, all SL characters have a first and last name, the last of which is picked off a default list. My original choice (Loki Lax) was taken, and nothing else sounded good, so in the end I picked ‘Seid’ because it’s actually a type of northern European witchcraft (sei

    Lol. Getting paid to afk.

I tried SL once. It was horrible, imo. Don’t get sucked in, Dee! You’ve got an active book fanbase and you don’t want it to go down the drain. :x

… why would texturing in SL have any impact on that whatsoever? >_O

Haha, Second Life. I used to camp all day and actually made quite a fair bit. US$10! :P And you’re not playing a female character! You don’t know what you’re missing. Or maybe you don’t really want to know. I’m “Naomi Skosh” there, anyway. :P

Well, to be fair; you can change your gender (and I’ve designed Loki’s skin with that in mind). :P

Camping’s a dying hobby, it seems. Firstly because Linden took out that subsidy for high-traffic areas, and now because they’re talking about restructuring the Popular Places Search function to try and avoid places with high-camping-low-content from getting to the top.

Know any good camping sites that still exist? :P

You are definitely much more patient than I am! I believe it was within hour three of my first test-run that I’d finally had it with the wonky controls/laggy browsing and gave up. (I wonder if my character still even exists?)

Though I want to agree with the wahh-my-ex-girlfriend-destroyed-my-character crazy (YOU know who I’m talking about): the default ringtail avatar is rather cute.

I found a whole wall of free anthro avatars; cute ones too. I was all like, “Mmm, delicious yiff…” :P

I’ll need to buy a plot of land for a house, soonish, so I can sell shit (I need somewhere safe to store dropboxes for http://slexchange.com ]” class=”ext”>SL Exchange and http://shop.onrez.com/ ]” class=”ext”>OnRez); you should come back and boogey in my garden like the cool dude you are!

Oh hell you KNOW I’ve already fired it back up. I’d thought to discard my old name, but now it’s Midryn Xue.

I can’t believe how nice everyone is in the game so far. I wandered into Luskwood like ‘lol hi im a nub’ and people were like… throwing free avatars at me. I’ve still not tried most of them on.

        Wow.

I’ve talked to, like, almost no-one since arriving. I can’t tell if it’s because I’m male, I’m anti-social or I’ve just not been visiting the right places. Probably the latter, actually; I really need to check out some of the social areas, rather than the strip (literally and figuratively) malls…
