Midori-san, the Blogging Plant (No, Really)

If plants could blog, what would they blog about?

Truly a question for the ages and now answered by (who else) the Japanese. Midori-san is the world’s first actually really real flora blogger, whose posts are apparently generated from sensors that pick up on tiny electrical impulses caused by the plant’s reaction to various plant-centric things like light, moisture and so forth.

Shi even has a widget you can use to give hir a nice little dose of light:

(Click the button, enter a name, click the button again.)

The whole idea sounds crazy except… it isn’t, really. Plants are very much alive, even if their existences are fairly alien to us. And we don’t really think about it, but the scary part is that they actually do seem to comunicate wth each other.

Maybe it’s time we started to listen too?
