XML-RPC Woes

Okay. this one is driving me absolutely insane and I couldn’t even tell you why.

I’m working on the code for the Write Post page that displays the choice of userpics to the user. This should be straightforward, right? I mean, the LJClient class is already written. The code for parsing the pics list is taken straight from sk.log. It should be simple cut-and-past, right…?

Wrong!

Big, fat, frustrating, Lex Luthor sized wrong.

First of all, WP’s XML-RPC interface is slightly different to the one used by sk.log. It shouldn’t be a big deal, right? I mean, it’s a bit of a code change but it’s actually neatened things up (there was this weird thing going on with double nested arrays run through an XML parser… yeah, I dunno either).

Except damned if I can get the thing to actually work. It constantly returns “parse error. not well formed” errors on me. But the really dumb thing, is that while it’s doing that… it’s still returning the response from LiveJournal with the userpic lists (which is then only occasionally being output but… one error at a time).

I’ve got no. Fucking. Clue. About the only thing I can think of doing is uploading it to the online beta site and seeing if it still plays up.

Maybe it’s a line-endings thing?

Crazy.

Update: Nope, still getting it on the live client. Fucksticks.
