So I was driving to work today, stopped at the traffic lights, when I happened to look out the window to see this:
A huge, full-arc rainbow! So close that I could see the base of it touching the ground just over the road.
Made my morning, really.
So, like. Australia. We’re used to giant things, right? We have spiders the size of your hand running around in our houses… and they’re the good spiders.
Yet even still, seeing this on the washing this morning was a bit of a “wow” moment (and excuse the blurry iPhone photo):

You know what I figured out the other day? I have a total of ten different rose bushes growing in my yard. Nasty, horrible thorny things, but unfortunately they’re tough as nails which is probably why they managed to survive through two really, really harsh summers.
Anyway, I took some photos.

So it’s been raining a bit in the last couple of days, which is always novel and unusual. The storms have been harsh, though they don’t usually last longer than about ten to twenty minutes. Still, it’s good for the garden. And photo-ops, too.
